Class Descriptions

All classes are taught progressively with variations and modifications included for each indivdual student.

Class levels are designed to help students find the class that safely challenges at an appropriate pace.

Introduction classes are taught as a 4 week series (no drop-in available) and are open to everyone. 

Cont. Intro and Fundamental classes have recommended pre-requisite skills to attend.

Intermediate classes also have pre-requisits and additionally require instructor approval to attend.

Aerial Silks

Introduction 

Taught at 4 week series, meets Thursdays 6.30-7.30 pm. 

Introduction classes are open to everyone, no previous aerial experience needed.

Introduction to Aerial Silks is the start of your aerial silks training. Each week we build strength and endurance, while learning fundamental aerial silks skills and shapes. Each class starts with targeted ground and aerial warm up, instruction on new skills with time to review/practice skills, and closes with aerial specific conditioning. Most students repeat the Introduction series for 1-3 months.

Continuing Introduction 

Mondays 6.30 pm

Similar to Introduction each week we build strength and endurance, while learning fundamental aerial silks skills and shapes. Each class starts with targeted ground and aerial warm up, instruction on new skills with time to review/practice skills, and closes with aerial specific conditioning.

 

Pre-Reqs: Able to hold  body weight and starting to climb, footlock and dancer wraps from ground, and straddle invert in a knot.  Most students repeat this level  6-9 months.

Fundamentals 1 & 2

Fundamentals 1 Mondays 6.30 pm

Fundamentals 1 & 2 Thursdays 5.30 pm

For students with aerial silks experience. These classes are taught with the same class structure, and include more advanced variations, longer sequences and start drops.

Pre-Reqs:

Fundamentals 1: Climb French/basic and Russian, footlock and dancer wraps from the air, lower into/hold hip key position, and straddle invert from ground. Generally 1-2 years of  aerial silks experience

Fundamentals 2: Same as above, plus starting to straddle invert and scissor hip key in the air (does not need to be 'clean').  Generally 2+ years of aerial silks experience.

Intermediate Aerial Silks

Mondays 5.30 pm

Intermediate Level requires instructor permission to attend, email Jess at jessflyingyogi@gmail.com for information.

These classes are taught in the same structure as other silks classes, but work on higher level skills including drops and dynamic work.

All previous pre-reqs plus: Multiple in air inverts and scissor hip keys, familiar with front and back dives/saltos, some experience with wheeldowns, familiar with s-wraps and catcher's. Most have 3+ years of aerial silks experience.

Aerial Hoop

Introduction to Lyra

Taught at 4 week series, meets Tuesdays 8-9 pm. 

Introduction classes are open to everyone, no previous aerial experience needed.

Introduction to Lyra is the start of your aerial hoop training. Each week we build strength and endurance, while learning fundamental lyra skills and transitions. Each class starts with targeted ground and aerial warm up, instruction on new skills with time to review/practice skills, and closes with aerial specific conditioning. Most students repeat the Introduction series for 1-3 months.

Fundamentals 1 & 2

Fundamentals 1 Tuesdays 7 pm 

Fundamentals 2 Tuesdays 6 pm

 

For students with lyra experience.   We build strength and endurance, while learning fundamental and more advanced variations of lyra shapes, transitions and spinning. Each class starts with targeted ground and aerial warm up, instruction on new skills with time to review/practice skills, and closes with aerial specific conditioning.  

Pre-Reqs:

Fundamentals 1: 1+ year lyra training, comfortable mounting/dismount lyra, dead hang 15 seconds, starting to work on longer sequences at this level.

Fundamentals 2: 2+ years lyra experience, comfortable mounting/dismounting lyra, working on rolls/slides, dead hang 30 seconds
